Question: O Noble Shaykh, I am a person who has been afflicted with having pride (kibr - كبر) in my heart. How do I remove this characteristic from my heart?

Answer: If one wants to purify himself from kibr he should look to those who are less fortunate than him, and at the same time he should observe the ni'mah (favours) which Allaah سبحانه وتعالى has bestowed upon him from a healthy body, wealth, status, children and know that Allaah سبحانه وتعالى is All-Powerful and capable of removing all these blessings in an instant. There is no doubt that this characteristic is an attribute of the creation which is blameworthy and not from the praiseworthy attributes. It is upon mankind to behave humbly toward the people whether men or women, young or old. He must ask his Rabb especially in his sujood (prostrations) during his salaah, to remove this characteristic from him.

But how do you know if you have this feeling of "Pride".
Are there any examples as such?

I think it's the feeling of 'extreme' pride, not pride in itself (which isn't necessarily a bad thing)... so an example of such pride would be feeling superior to others and/or comparing our own achievements with that of others, etc. Self-evaluation is key in determining whether such a feeling of pride exists.

Kebr is one of the worst sins one can made

the problem is that one can fall in it without feeling

If you see your opinions and your mind is superior to all ... then you have fall in it

If you are waiting for every body to praise you .. and you mad of him if he didnt .. then you fall in it

God protect us from Kibr enshallah
