i know as my sister got married in July 07 so the memory is fresh! smile.gif

Well this is the way my family do it anyway.. Well during the Nikkah you have to give money right? saying the grooms name son of so and so.. gives e.g £100 to bride daughter of so n so

That is the hak of the bride.. and as for dowry my rents had said to sisters in laws that our daughter is your amaanat now so you may give her as much or as little as you wish..

Mostly gold is given in Pakistani families.. which the bride wears on the day of the wedding... along with the bridal dress

Apart from that the grooms family decide what else they would like to give and how much they can afford to give. I think any good Muslim family would look at this and accept eachothers gifts gracefully be it little or alot.

Dowry is not the important thing its the union of two people and two souls becoming one in the way that Allah has said is the right way smile.gif
