I am a new convert to Islam and Ismailism, I am having trouble learning the prayers and I don't know of any Muslims in my area to help me learn. Could someone tell me how many times to pray a day and what to pray in Ismailism? Thank you for any help or information you may have.

Far as I know, Ismailis pray three times a day, in a prayer room or hall which they call Jamaat Khana(?). Their prayer consists of reciting certain supplications (which they call Duaa), which, far as I know, is formulated by their Imam. They do not see the need to face the Caaba which other Moslems do.<>And the more religiously inclined among them use "Ya Aly Madad" as their saluation and farewell.

Not to be rude, Ismailis is a true form of Islam. It is our belief, and is a continuation of Islam from the separation at the 7th imam. I did do my research.

I know an Ismaili girl, and she does not call herself a Moslem. I remember that once someone asked her if she was an Ismaili Moslem, and she said "Not Moslem, only Ismaili". Ismailis are the one of most tolerant community I have come across, and do not feel the need to make their beliefs understood.

You are right; I was not speaking for all Ismailis, only this wonderful girl whom I know. As a matter of fact, I have known quite a few Ismailis, but it never occurred to me to ask them "Are you a Moslem?" I always assumed them to be a sect of Islam, and a subsect of Shiites. And the reason I mention this girl is that I specifically found her saying the words which miss jj so kindly highlighted. Let me again state that I only put forth what my friend said, and if you say that Ismailis are Moslems then I have absolutely no reason to challenge that.[]Coming to the part about their not feeling the need to have their beliefs understood: What I meant was that every single Ismaili I know has this amazing quality of being tolerant to what others believe and practice. I had this friend, years back, who had rebuked a Moslem (from another sect) for laughing at the beliefs of another religion. Again, I do not speak for all Ismailis, but for the Ismailis I know, and in as much as I know them. They are at ease with their own beliefs, and do not grudge others their beliefs. It was in this sense that I made my observation.

I have deleted all the post that have broke the rule of this forum. Let it be a warning to everyone involved that the rules will be enforced. This section is not a debate section like this thread was turning into.

This section is for the discussions of shia matters only. It is not an area of debates.

If you have any question please post in a responsible/respectful manner.

Please respect the rules for they are set for a reason. The brother here had a simple question in this thread that required a simple answer. It is why I felt the thread needed to be cleaned of the "hate"(for lack of better term) that was transpiring here.

Always keep in mind the whole theme of MO: BE UNITED BE YOURSELF!
Then lets not forget the unspoken rule of be respectful.

Just felt the need to emphasise this again.
