The Ameer of the Lions, the greatest headache of Washington, Shaykh Usaamah bin Laadin - hafidhullah - said,

“Concerning the situation that we are in, we must praise Allah, (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aalaa), that He has allowed us to follow the path of men who are amongst the best of creation and amongst them, the greatest being the Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wassallam. It is reported in the Sahihayn (i.e., Bukahri & Muslim), that the Prophet, sallallahu ‘alayhi wassallam, said, “I swear by the One whose hand the soul of Muhammad is in…” but who was the Prophet Muhammad, sallallahu ‘alayhi wassallam? He is the one who had all his past and future sins forgiven and it is he who will carry the banner on the Day of Intercession, the seal of the Prophets. He desired this station (of being on Jihaad). So understand and be aware of what this station truly entails, that the ‘best of creation’ desired, sallallahu ‘alayhi wassallam. He desired to become a shaheed. “I swear by the One whose hand the soul of Muhammad is in, I wish that I could go to battle and be martyred, (be brought back to life) then go to battle and be martyred again, then go to battle and be martyred again.”

This lengthy life has been summarized by the Prophet to whom revelation came from the heavens. Knowing all this, he wished for this station. So the happy individual is he whom Allah has taken as a shaheed. We ask Allah, Subhaanahu wa Ta’aalaa, for victory, and we ask Allah to grant us shahaada, running towards Him and not away from Him.”

Killing yourself on purpose is haram.

Scriptures
Volume 4, Book 52, Number 297:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

We were in the company of Allah's Apostle in a Ghazwa, and he remarked about a man who claimed to be a Muslim, saying, "This (man) is from the people of the (Hell) Fire." When the battle started, the man fought violently till he got wounded. Somebody said, "O Allah's Apostle! The man whom you described as being from the people of the (Hell) Fire fought violently today and died." The Prophet said, "He will go to the (Hell) Fire." Some people were on the point of doubting (the truth of what the Prophet had said) while they were in this state, suddenly someone said that he was still alive but severely wounded. When night fell, he lost patience and committed suicide. The Prophet was informed of that, and he said, "Allah is Greater! I testify that I am Allah's Slave and His Apostle." Then he ordered Bilal to announce amongst the people: 'None will enter Paradise but a Muslim, and Allah may support this religion (i.e. Islam) even with a disobedient man.'

You are supposed to try to keep yourself alive in any way possible. Those who commit suicide bombings dont have to kill themselves. You can throw bombs, remote bombs, mine them, so many ways. Killing yourself is not the way of the mujaheddin but of the hopeless.

Yeah he didnt say anything about suicide bombing....

Might I also add that organizations like 7amas and the International Alqeada group, have largely dropped "suicide bombing".

The last big Operation from 7amas came when a brother shot as many IDF officers as he could before going down himself.

Roadside bombs and homemade rockets are LARGELY taking the place of suicide bombers.

Why?

Because with suicide bombing you just got some stuff from around the house, used yourself as a conductor, or you assembled a bomb at the spot, and and it exploded.

Yeah "homemade bombs" are usually a very very BAD idea, so many people were killed using the anarchists cookbook in america and abroad suicide bombing had a higher success rate too.

Somehow someway, organization has improved, and methods of attack are slowly creeping away from blowing yourself up.

Edit: Its a great article.

It reminds me of that quote from Nathan Hale.
"I only regret that I have but one life to give my country."

and from that play Cato...

How beautiful is death, when earn'd by virtue!
Who would not be that youth? What pity is it
That we can die but once to serve our country.

Just because the Prophet pbuh.gif wanted to take part in Jihad and become a martyr you cant use that as PROOF suicide bombings are allowed (I am aware he didnt say anything about it but you can see where this is going to)

I was not using this as proof of the halaal verdict upon martyrdom operations, but rather to show proof from a Shaykh that the Rasul of Allah (Saww) desired Shuhadaa'.

As for the opinion of the scholars on martyrdom operations themselves, see the book of Shaykh Al-'Uyayri (Raheemahallah).

Wallaahul 'Aala. And surely, Allaah is the Most High.

IBF dont seem like he's telling Alqeada to go back to suicide bombing as opposed to roadside bombs and gunmen.

1.) The 'Ulema say it is preferred to refer to these operations as 'Amaaliyyah Istisshadiyyah (Martyrdom operations).

2.) Al-Qaa'idah has resorted to every possible military way except those ways which are Haraam. Shaykh Dr. Ayman Al-Zawahiri (Raheemullah) maintains that Al-Qaa'idah does not harm civilians and that bombings which target civilians expressly are falsely blamed on the Mujaahideen fisabeelillah.

3.) There are Mujaahideen in most Muslim corners of the world, their struggle is to follow Allah's Command and not only fight the enemy of Allaah swt, but establish Shari'ah. As far as I know, and May Allaah swt forgive me if I am incorrect, but the Mujaahideen are or at one recent point have been very active in the following countries:

- 'Iraaq
-Afghanistan
-Pakistan
-Chechnya
-Somalia
-Yemen
- Saudi Arabia
- Qatar
- Kuwait
-Lebanon
-Palestine (I am not referring to the secular Hamas, but to Al-Qaa'idah in Filasteen)
- Maldives
- Kashmir
- Morocco
-Algeria
- Tunisia
- Mauritania
- Xinjiang
-Uzbekistan
-Indonesia
-Philippines
- Sunni Iran (fighting the government of Iran, bi'idhnillah)

Masha'Allaah.

you can say what u want about the iranian government, but at least iran shows backbone towards the US and their cronies.  they fulfil their duty against the scourge by backing hizbullah and showing a real resistance, one that the other 'islamic' countries only dream of.
