Whether it is mainstream or not, the Muslim should be cautious of Christians in general. Of course, we should definitely avoid and condemn fringe groups like those, many of whom insult and write slander against Rasulullah (S.A.W.W), but neither are we allowed to befriend mainstream Christians and Jews, that doesn't mean we can't be nice to them. We should treat them with respect and as our neighbors but not get any closer to them than that. Any Muslim or Muslimah doubting this should read Surat al-Mumtahanah of the Qur'an for clarification on the issue.
