children of the wheel, by pamela scobie, trillions by nicholas fisk and about 20 other books are close runners up...

well a bent rib... is about women.. rights and responsibilities. loadsa hadith, its a light read.. really nice :')

i recommend books by naguib mahfouz such as "children of the alley" also knwn as "children of gebelawi" and "the cairo trilogy"..i saw his "miramar" as an opera...does that count? lol...
...good fictional writing..
arab writers' books are actually quite good...i also read "the innocence of the devil"..think thts by huda sharaawi..lol, its nt actually abt the devil...quite a strange book..but interesting....
