I have vista home premium and quiet a lot of memory on my laptop. Its dual core 2 thingy. Thing is, i bought Fifa 07 and another game called Broken Sword, both games run bit slow on my comp. So do i need a new graphics card or what?

ok first of all

why a vista

vista sucks period

downgrade back to XP. vista is toooooo glitchy

as for the graphics card it seems alright

however u might wanna defrag your computer and scan it for viruses as even 1 trojan virus can make your computer slow by a lot

and try shutting down your computer and starting it back up and play the game with no other programs on (dont restart)

RAM may also be a problem

you should play PC games on a desktop though

on a laptop it will go slow

fps means frames per second

so if it lags like 12 frames (pictures) per 1 second then that means it goes at 12 fps average

turning off and turning on ur laptop might be your best bet

you cant buy a new graphics card for a laptop (at least not that i know of anyway).

the integrated graphics u have is alright, nothing too exciting. i would suggest checking the computer start up routines and setting unneccesary programs not to load, so that u have the most available memory available to the games when u load them.

if still no joy, u might want to go into the BIOS and give ur graphics chipset access to more of ur main memory (if there's an option for it), which will slow down vista a bit, but might improve your games performance.

its all about windows xp anyway.

lol the computers in my house have 512, 320, 1gb and another laptop with 512.

ddr ram costs so much more than ddr-2! its annoying man!

anyway if it needs a minimum of 2gb to do stuff that u can get by with 512 on xp, then it is kinda a resource hog no?

what hardware do u review anyway?

QUOTE(chailvr @ May 12 2008, 08:35 PM) *
No, thats 9800's welded together. Slightly overpriced but I got it free for review anyway. ATI still lacks and will continue to do so until AMD (ironically) splits the graphics and processor into seperate divisions within the company. Their "Black" series that came out, seriously. They are on a life preserver within that company, steadily sinking. They don't have the capital to fund all their new projects with the debt they have already incurred during their merger with former ATI.

Erm thats what your wrote tongue.gif "9800gx2", which is just two 8800gts unified on one board. Do you work for review sites? how do u get it free?

As for ATI, there new 4*** rang is coming out soon, and first reports have said its brilliant, there aiming for a comeback and could possibly do it too, i hope they do, problem with AMD is there athlon range was brilliant but once they bought ati, they started to have pronlems and took the eyes of the cpu market, and intel came back with a bomb, the've gone through some changes now and i reckon AMD/ATI will make a comeback, they need to ditch the phenom and come up with something new, when they do i'll be switching bacl to AMD and ATI smile.gif ive always preferred those, AMD are very innovative compared to Intel.

I did a bit of searching and came across this "integrated Intel GMA X3100 graphics card"

Thats what my laptop has apparently, i also read its not good for gaming! I'm kicking myself right now, i should have checked it out before i bought this thing. <<
