salaam

So I watched this programme yesterday on iplayer ( wub.gif ) and it really amazed me. I mean I know arabs are crazy rich but the pressure to look good in arab countries is astounding!

This programme focuses on showing what women in abayas are 'really like.' I think it attempts to refute the 'oppressed' image we, in the west, have of those that don the jilbaab. So basically it shows the other side of the spectrum...and IMO does not represent all women in black. It's *very* ethnocentric.

See for yourselves and please put your opinions about the show.

Oh-a little warning, if you do not wish to see women without hijaabs on please don't watch it.

wasalaam

that is some spending. totally a waste and all that money could help so many of the Muslims in the word (PALESTINE) and other needy people in the world.

phew and i thought i was a spender. alhamdulillah.

i personally don't have a problem with the jilbabs-at least they cover the body-but whats with the hair showing? whats the point of a jilbab if your going to wear your hijab is a weird way where your hair and neck is on display?

and yep it makes saudi seem oppressive. Saudi is certainly far from perfect, but at least all this stupid worthless spending and display isn't encouraged there.
