Hey I believe that religion is destroying the world and is responsible for most of the worlds problems. I think that it's a total waste of time and that people use religion for their own advantage (which is very weak) Religion is an ancient belief and has no place in a modern age. (especially Islam) I am not hating but I just cannot grasp how people can be so mislead on a massive scale by something that isn't real??!
I mean who has actually seen any signs of these gods or prophets etc? I think people can be truly good people but this has nothing to do with religion, in fact i've come across some very hateful, evil, wierd people in life and most of it is in the name of religion!
That's my opinion, however I respect other peoples opinions and beliefs - unless they believe that forcing religion on people is ok. (Islam tends to do this) why do Muslims outcast members of family etc if they have a different idea on life? This goes on everyday and in my opinion is the worst thing any human being can do to another - effectively controlling/restricting their lives.

Of course it's subjective, but stonings, killings in the name of religion is not civilised in this age. Maybe it was thousands of years ago.
Do you believe that stoning people to death for adultery is civilised?
Maybe most Muslims do not carry out the penalty for apostacy, however the instruction to do this in such an influencial book is very dangerous! - this is why it happens, because mo told them to !!!

I don't see the freedom in a religion which covers women faces. I don't see freedom in a religion which apostacy carries a death sentence. I don't see freedom in a religion which sees anybody else from any other faith as inferior.

Well you would agree with the above post, your a Muslim! Trying to get a Muslim to think from any kind of neutral point of view is impossible.

Yes.

Now prove to me why and how its not civilised. Science and technology is improving, but it doesnt mean ethics are. They are simply changing. Changing into something else which makes some people believe that there is a "bad/good" when you have absolutely NO evidence and NO bases for claiming this is not civilised.

No one can force a woman to cover her hair, if she wishes to let it be seen then she is free to do so. This is Islamic law (unlike what is portrayed in Iran). However, what she does does not concern me, her matter is between God and her. When her freedom gets to the extent that it affects MY freedom then that is not permissible. For example if she walks around half naked when a person is trying to take their kids to school, should that be allowed? Freedom has its end points, even in a "free" (as you like to say) society.

Apostacy carries death (by SOME scholars) if the reason isnt justified. If one says "I dont wanna be a Muslim cause I like getting wasted in public" then that simply isnt good enough. Remember everything is permissible in your own home.

What you fail to understand is that there is never and will never be pure freedom. We would be worse than animals if there was. Your issue is with the ethics of Islam, which you believe are "outdated" (somehow) and immoral. This is why I ask you to bring proof of such statements and then we can begin a real discussion.

Like you can think as a Muslim. I am very able to think from all perspectives, as a Philosopher its quite necessary.
