Mosque Near Ground Zero, what do you guys think about it? Rating Options

i think that its a wonderful idea that they're building a muslim center near Ground zero
its showing them that not all muslims are guilty of 9/11
alot of them are protesting but they shud stop because its gonna be built no matter what
even some muslims are discouraging this idea..............

If someone else has pointed this out and I missed it, I appologize, however, I think it's very important to point out that what they're building isn't a mosque at all. It's a community centre. It will have prayer space available inside but it's also going to have a library, a gym, rooms for classes, a swimming pool, etc.

Yes, it's being built by an Islamic organization but it's not a mosque that they're building.

I've watched many newscasts about this issue, both on Canadian and American networks, and I think that it's really sobering to note that not a single newcast on the American networks actually mentions the fact that it's not actually a 'Mosque' that they're building. It's like they're trying their darndest to make people think that Muslims are encroaching on ground zero with their faith. Only the Canadian (and British coverage of this issue have brought to light the fact that it's a community centre they're building, not a Mosque.

Furthermore, the reason they're building it there is to bridge the ever-present gap between Islamic and Western secular culture.

The most ironic thing is that all the American stations are saying it's right across the street from the World Trade Centre and how horrible it all is. Well, that's not true either. It's across the street, around a corner and down a full block. You can't even see the WTC from the building where they want to put the centre in.

*sigh*

I hate that we live in a culture that promotes information spread by the media and willful ignorance. It's like they want everyone to be spoonfed their daily knowledge from the TV so that no one thinks for themselves.

Okay, I'll stop ranting now.
