There really should not be any fear of homosexuality somehow taking over Islamic countries. It appears to be very adequately repressed. Really, there is nothing to fight. In fact, I would say that in order to survive as a gay man or lesbian, you have the fight of your life on your hands!

The idea of gay men having to undergo gender reassignment in Islamic countries is also a kind of horror story and so if you are gay or lesbian in these kind of environments, you will likely hide who you are. Strangely, the boys that are used as prostitutes in Islamic countries is one of those odd foils to the story. When I first heard about it, I hardly could believe it. I believe they are referred to as dancing boys and are trained to dance and entertain but are then used as sexual slaves by supposedly straight men. Very odd. But that is one symptom of oppression, hey?

Statistically, it appears that those gay men who undergo "reprogramming" through some kind of "therapeutic" means end up in support groups for ex-gays. And these support groups are great place for "don't ask, don't tell" sexual hook-ups between male members. Personally, I think it's brilliant!! Two ex-gays can have an affair behind their wives backs and no one is the wiser. They can still go on bible shows and provide testimony as to how they have been saved and transformed and get on the down-low with their saved and transformed buddies, all the while making hateful statements about those gays. Brilliant!

There is another classification for men who have sex with men and they are called....wait for it...men who have sex with men! Really! This relates to the male bonding part of the discussion above where men seem to prefer each other but aren't really homosexual. They identify as men who have sex with men but there is no actual intimate relationship. I don't classify this in the same category as men raping men in jail. These men voluntarily have sex. It goes on a lot on the east coast of Canada. Don't ask me why. I can never figure that one out.

But all that really has nothing to do with marriage. I think that marriage, in the case of gays and lesbians, is a more advanced form of socio-political expression. Just like gay and lesbian Muslims. Visibility, being out in public, is a life-giving action for the entire gay and lesbian population. We can, if we choose, remain hidden. However, becoming visible, means we take our place in society. Sure, some people think we are pushing ourselves on others but really, if you look around and turn on the tv, straight people are everywhere! I mean they are in banks, getting mortgages, shopping in malls, breeding...I mean, they are everywhere!! biggrin.gif

So when gays and lesbians get married, they do so in a largely heterogeneous relational society. In that way, it will probably always remain an anomaly for some. Either way, if you want to be safe and get married, you are better off living in North America, Europe and the Scandinavian countries. The Middle East is just not safe at all.

is there anyone in this topic that has any FEAR of god? a show of hands please.

Romans 1:26–27

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion

Leviticus 18:22

22 “ ‘Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

Well, no one seems to have responded but I can safely say I have no fear of God. And that doesn't mean I don't believe in a God either.

The following is my general statement on the fear of God. In the next post I hope to write something more relevant in this thread.

Many people think they have the fear of God, because they are afraid of the punishment of hell fire? They may think that being afraid or being scared before God is the fear of God and a sign of their humbleness before him. But this has nothing to do with the true fear of God. The true fear of God is the acute awareness of the presence of God’s great power that produces in us a sense of awe and calls forth from us the highest reverence, honour and respect. It has nothing to do with the fear of punishment for breaking one of religious duties and rituals.

Khomeini has allowed to sexuality change in certain cases. Although I respect him and can very easily understanding why he has allowed this, in theory, I cannot see it work because it is very difficult to understand who should be allowed to undergo this. By no means has Khomeini allowed for someone who is simply gay to have a sex change.

This is, the worst case, of "homosexuality" if you can call it that. I believe this is what the people of Lut AS.gif were doing. Like I said, God does not hate homosexuals, he hates homosexuality (as in the act of it). Just as God does not hate sex, He hates fornication.

Some people get a kick out of different sexual experiences, and some guys, like the kick out of sleeping with other guys. Just like some people are into sex with animals, and dolls and whatever other things exist.

The view that Muslims have towards homosexuals is misguided

When thinking about brokeback mountain, I realised that a lot of cases havent got anything to do with homosexuality, but it seems that people of the same gender can fall "in love"

I do not believe love is enough of a reason to do as you please

Now, the way I see it ultimately is that in the developed countries, gay marriage is a force unto itself. Regardless of people's views, likes and dislikes, gays and lesbians will continue, if at all possible, to marry, whether legally recognized or not. And they will have religious ceremonies when they want. There are now lots of priests, rabbis, etc. that will do the ceremonies. Yes, there could always be a turning back, given that we have seen that in the modern world before. But really, once this has taken on the of force and rhythm we now have, it will be more difficult to stuff that back into the box. Then again, the Nazis took things way back when they were in power.

As a British Muslim i would say its fine as long as they keep to themselves, just like im to myself, but i don't believe in gay marriage and i don't like homosexuality. We should bear in mind that we live in a free country, but as Muslims we should stand by our beliefs.

Peace out.

Ps. I've seen Brokeback mountain.
