As-Salaamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh ya Muslimeen,

There is a problem. Yes, notice the period at the end of the sentence. We have a bit of a problem with closed threads in the Sunni/Shia debate section. Some examples of threads which have been closed by Shi'a moderators include my Ibn Taymiyyah topic, as well as my video of well-known Shia scholars cursing the Mother of the Believers Aisha, May Allah swt be well pleased with her. Ameen.

The truth can't be concealed even if the post gets a tiny bit off-topic. In all of the Sunni-made topics I have seen closed in the middle of a debate, none of them contain enough off-topic posts to justify completely closing the topic. In fact, it is my opinion that the nature of the postings are completely opposite of what they are alleged to be. What I mean by that is they were closed because they are ON-TOPIC. Too on-the topic for moderators to handle, and that is exactly why they were closed (at least what I can tell, only Allah swt knows).

We should at least change the policy on what justifies closing a thread, if there even is one. Allahu 'Alaam.

Yeah, exactly my point.

Wonder if a Shi'a moderator will reply to this thread...

RULES
1) A moderator will warn ANYONE that calls ANYONE a liar.
2) NO insulting ANYONES belief. (calling them Nasibi's or Rafidhis etc.)
3) NO using humour to annoy members (LOOOL, HAHAH, laugh.gif , etc )
4) Respect one another.
5) Debate with a good manner and do use sarcasm as a way of annoying another.
6) NO personal attacks
7) Criticise but NO hating. If you must hate, keep it hidden.
8) NO excessive Sarcasm.
9) This is a Debate forum, NOT a warzone.
10) These rules will be enforced by BOTH Sunni and Shia Moderators.
11) You may critisice and debate against the Prophet's Wives, Sunni Caliphs, and Shia Imams. However, NO insulting, cursing, or slander against these people.

If you rulebreak excessively, EVERY post you make will be moderated before being public.THE RULES WILL STRICTLY BE ENFORCED

are these the rules of the interfaith debate section. The rules should be enforced as written and how they say to punish. If everyone stays within these boundries and it is still a heated debate then why close it? If everyone doesn't then it seems like a good time to close it.
The last section is up to the moderators to do to keep the tensions down. I don't say it often but I agree with IBF.
Sebastian

I agree with IBF on this in the matter that topics closing causes too many controversies and shouldn't be used in debate sections. Only topics should be DELETED if they are Spam or completely off topic, like if a topic is about Brad Pitt or something.

If you are worried about old topics getting revived, i think that is better than topics becoming new again and people starting all over.

For those that say "we already solved this problem". this forum is meant to get new people in, and as moderator they should expect getting topics that repeat. Interfaith is not a debate between mods, but the entire community.

WalaikumAsalam

Actually, when a topic gets heated in the interfaith then by all means close it. There is ONLY ONE WAY we can keep our interfaith CLEAN and that is to MAINTAIN respect, if we dont have that then interfaith can not go on, as it will be like any other forum.

When a topic gets out of hand people say what they like and it doesnt bother them weather they break the rules because they are most likely replying to anothers post that is there (spam off topic or plain rude)

Now separate sections is a different matter, we need to keep out the debate that takes place there nearly every time a topic is made. So if the members didnt do that maybe they'd stay open.

If it bothers everyone that the mods are not fair, we can introduce the sunni - judge sunni and shia judge shia, personally dont really like that idea.

or when the thread is closed... a mod opens it again.. writes something.. and closing it again.. so we cant reply back...

but i guess thats mod power?

IBF read the threads before you whine about them being clsed.

The Ibn Taymiyyah thread was closed because it went off topic.
Insulting Aisha just turned into a pointless discussion that lead no where. We both made our views clear.

What about the Wilayat thread? It was closed almost straight away.

Whether closed or open, The debates are crap.( sorry should have told you all before to stop wasting your time)

Every sunni and shi3a debate is going in a circle, no conclusion will be drawn by either parties apart from the ones previously made at the start.

But, Deleting policy sucks, I prefer closing threads as opposed to deleting posts where individuals have put many thoughts into or asked shikeh google.

AlaMah'lik
Theres no point having a debate if the threads are just gona end up bieng locked..
delete of topic posts by all means but leave the rest and leave it open....
kellyjaz
A new thread could be made linking the old thread for a fresh start...
AlaMah'lik
why is the wali thread closed? it aint even been up for a day...

NaFs judged it and closed it. After speaking with him and his reasons Its better its closed.

Warzone.. man thats what it used to be, it looks like its heading back to it.

Why doesnt her share them? If someone closes a thread then he needs to state exactly WHY it was closed.

OK from now on, i will stop closing threads. Just delete off topic posts
juan
^Agreed it should be stated why the thread is getting closed.
iamcrazy
He did say so why it was closed. But didnt go into detail. There are going to be topics closed no point in saying there arent going to be.
