QUOTE(BrownBear786 @ Aug 21 2009, 11:50 PM)

Assalamu alaikum,
I was born into a muslim family (thank Allah) and over my life, to be honest i never really thought into religion, i never thought any of them were true (obviously i thought this inside and never told anyone), and i have found that my actions had become very haraam
I realised it was because i had become far from the correct path. I had started to keep my daily prayers but slowly went back to my old ways.
Lately i have been extremely lucky as i didnt get the needed grades to get into university but i asked the university to reconsider and Subhan'Allah (Glory to Allah) they did and gave me a place. I had then realised that this luck had only come from
one place and from
one all-mighty.
I have now tried to keep all prayers but occasionly i find other things to do during prayer time.
Is there anyway i can keep this voice out of my head and pray happily, because i am afraid that i am going to end up again were i was before.
(sorry for the long story)
Alhamdu l'Ellah (All praise be to Allah) Thank you in advance for your help.
May Allah reward you for helping a fellow muslim
Also RAMADAAN MUBARACK to all!!
Asalaam wr wb, brother we should thank Allah so much everyday because firstly out of BILLIONS of people that he's created he chose US and gave US imaan! Even though we sin day in and day out he still provides for us, nourishes us, sustains us and gives us EVERYTHING we need! He could have created us in another time era like the dark ages or some other terrible time but he created us in this relatively safe environment and he has given us wealth and SO SO much compared to most people in this world. If you were to see the condition of the way most people in this world live you would cry everyday to Allah thanking him for EVERYTHING that he's given you!
We are so lucky my brother if ONLY we knew. Even after you lost faith in Allah he still trying to guide you. All you have to to brother is to make a little effort for EVERYTHING Allah's given you is that so hard for us to do? He gave us life, and EVERY SINGLE THING and yet we still struggle to thank him and pray to him for a few minutes a day.
My brother happiness and contentment of the heart
ONLY lies with Allah! Whether we gain this happiness and true contentment really depends on how obedient we are to Allah's commandments! Remember everything that is good comes from Allah and everything bad that happens comes from us and our own doings! Allah tests his creations in
MANY different ways!
He may test us in any aspect of our lives! He says in the Qur'an aswell that do you think that you will not be tested? What is the point and purpose of life if we are not to be tried and tested by Allah! Allah just wants to see how we will react when were tested! Will we go closer to shaythan or closer to Allah? Why should we let shaythan win? For Allah tests a person so that he may bring them closer to him!Who were tested the most? The prophets! Do you know why? Because they were the best of all creation! So the more Allah tests us the more he wants us to be closer to him because Allah is with the ones who are patient!
SubhanallahIt is shaythan who wants you to become closer to him and will u let him? He
ONLY wants your destruction! He's kept you away from deen for so long but Allah is wanting to guide you! It is shaythan who wants to make you lose faith again in Allah and make give up your prayers! It is shaythan who wants to see your destruction! Will u let him do this to you and win? Will u let him jeapordise your imaan and bring you to destruction?
We have to realise our purpose in this life. Our purpose is not to please ourselves and our desires for our purpose is
ONE and ONLY ONE.
Allah (s.w.t.) has said in the Holy Qur’an: "I have not created the jinn and humankind for any other purpose except that they should worship me."
My Brother Allah has not asked us for much in this life compared to what he's got on offer for us in the hereafter! Allah has just asked us for full obedience to him for a short amount of time and in return for this he has promised us eternal bliss! Is'nt that an amazing offer? On top of that Allah has given us everything we need, life, shelter, wealth, food, clothing i can go on and on on the favours of Allah
FOREVER!
To do all 5 prayers in a day if we calculate it altogether it only takes an hour. Thats 1 hour in 24 hours in our day just for Allah, is that asking for too much considering he created us and has given us
LITERALLY EVERYTHING!
Salah strengthens the foundations of our faith. It prepares a person to live the life of goodness and obedience to Allah (s.w.t.), and it builds courage and determination. Every time we perform salah, we renew our commitments to Allah (s.w.t.) and we rid ourselves from worldly pressures 5 times a day.
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) said "The person that observes prayer properly, the prayer itself, blesses him with good wishes." According to a hadith a companion of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) came to him one day and asked him "What is the thing that Allah (s.w.t.) loves most?" Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) replied "The thing that Allah (s.w.t.) loves most is when his people pray salah on time." A muslim who does not move from his place after hearing the call for prayer even if his intention is to read it at home or at the masjid in fact proves that either he does not even understand what his duty is, or if he does understand it he is so stupid and worthless, that he is quite unfit to remain in the army of Allah (s.w.t.).
Salah is a practical sign of obedience to the commands of Allah (s.w.t.). Its importance has been emphasized about 500 times in the Holy Qur’an.
Once Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) shook a dry branch of a tree so that all of the leaves of the branch fell off than the Prophet (s.a.w.) said "The sins of those who pray Salah, drop off as the leaves of this branch fell off." Before salah, we make Wudu. Wudu is a unique way of cleansing certain parts of our body so we are clean before bowing down to the one who created us, who created the universe the one and only Allah (s.w.t.).
The Rasulallah (s.a.w.) once asked his companions "Tell me if there was a river at the door step of one of you in which you washed 5 times a day would any of your dirt remain?" When he received the reply that none of it would remain he then said "That is like the 5 times Salah, with which Allah (s.w.t.) wipes out sin. The last thing that Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) emphasized at his deathbed was SALAH. He also said the first thing we will have to answer about on the day of judgement is SALAH.
It is said in the Holy Qur’an: "And truly Salah is hard save for the humble minded." Meaning, that Salah is hard only on those who are not ready to lead a life of obedience to Allah (s.w.t.), and on whom Salah is hard, provides himself proof of not being fit for the servitude and obedience to Allah (s.w.t.).
Salah improves and helps us to attain high moral qualities and to build a strong defense against evils which exist around us.
It is said in the Holy Qur’an, surely, Salah keeps you away from indecency and evil. This is why the prayer is described as
"remembrance" to Allah (s.w.t.).
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) said the bond man is nearest to Allah (s.w.t.) at the moment when he is lying in prostration before him.
Salah reminds you of Allah (s.w.t.), when you get up in the morning, it reminds you three more times when you are busy during the day, and once again before you go to bed.
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) once said, "The worst form of theft, is the theft of prayer." "How can one commit theft in prayer?" his companions asked, The Holy Prophet (p.b.u.h.) replied "By skipping on the complete performance of bows and prostration’s." While in salah one communicates with Allah (s.w.t.) and experiences his presence. That’s why a hadith says: Salah is the Meraaj of a Momin.
The Rasulullah (s.a.w.) also said "The key to HEAVEN is SALAH. The key to SALAH is PURIFICATION. Allah just wants the best for us and he shows us in the Qur'an that rightousness is the path to success in this world and the next! In order to gain rightousness we need to follow the commands of Allah. If he created us then do you think he does not know what is the best for us?
This life for us can end at ANYTIME Brother as we have seen for ourselves people dying around us and we know how temporary life is and if we waste our lives further then we will surely regret it on qiyamat because we will ask Allah for one more chance but it will be too late because Allah will say have i not given you enough chances in this world to change? We would regret it FOREVER if we were to die at this point of our lives because were not even prepared for the hereafter what will we show? What have we got to show to Allah for what we have done with our lives so far? NOTHING!
We get soo many chances from Allah everyday but yet again and again we don't take those chances and one time we might not get anymore! So its best for us to change now and strive to abide by the commandments of Allah and go closer to him because he is our beloved creator and he knows whats best for us we don't!
We don't know how much time we have left so we should
NOT dwell on our past or bad experiences etc because it will do us no good! Being depressed or down about life and losing hope and faith will NEVER benefit us but cause our doom!
If we think to ourselves that life is too short to be down or lose hope and faith and that i should spend most of my time working for the next life then this is the best way to live our lives because what is the point of investing time and efforts in this world when those efforts are for something that is temporary and could end at
ANYTIME! Why not spend our time and efforts on the hereafter which is for
ETERNITY and any investment we put into the hereafter will benefit us forever and we will wreak the rewards for eternity!
We all have done mistakes in our life that we wish we can get a time machine and do things differently! We wish we could go back and change things so that things could have been different but what is the point of thinking this way? We are wasting even more time thinking this way when we could be using the precious time that we have in doing things better now and the future because thats what really counts!
Lets move on and
NOT think and dwell about the past because our life experiences make us who we are and make us wiser people! Sometimes in life we have to learn the hard way because the hard way is the best way to learn at times and we have to just accept whats happened and move on because life goes on but we don't know for how long! We have to realise how precious time is!
Death will
NEVER be moved forward it will happen at
EXACTLY the time it is appointed for and this is something that should really make us realise that we can really
DIE AT ANY TIME! So lets forget the past now and move on and do the
BEST we can now and the future in pleasing Allah and trying to be the closest to him and repenting our past sins because if we repent with full sincerity with the intention of NEVER doing it again then Allah almighty will forgive us inshallah thats how merciful he is!
One of the main reasons why your feeling like this is due to a lack of knowledge of Islam! Knowledge always makes things clearer to us! Once you gain more and more knowledge of Islam then your imaan(faith) will increase inshallah and you should also try to keep up your namaz as it is the most important aspect of Islam after faith and it is the first thing we will be questioned for! Also do loads of zikr(rememberance of Allah) and read the Qur'an because thesse are the best ways of gaining Allah's pleasure and pure contentment and happiness in our hearts and in these ways your imaan will increase inshallah and you will think differently in regards to this life and ones purpose and the reasons for many things! You will also know that Allah ONLY wants the best for us and that he has something better in store for us and all he wants is for us to be patient and continue to have full hope and yaqeen in him!
Then everything will become clearer Brother i promise you! Because learning knowledge of Islam will opens up our eyes more wider than they currently are and sincere worship of Allah will bring contentment in our hearts aswell as happiness!
Lets make the best of every second we have now and
NOT waste it anymore! Lets learn as much as we can about our beautiful way of life because it is truly amazing and has perfect wisdom in it!Once we become closest to Allah we will feel more amazing than we have
EVER imagined because Allah says that you will
NOT find contenment and true happiness in money or anything else but you will
ONLY find true contentment and happiness in me and
NOTHING else!
It is important for us to refrain from that which is haram and follow the commands of Allah(swt) as strictly as we can. Especially now that your going to go to university you are in danger of falling into haraam from the temptations around you but just remember Allah is watching your EVERY move. I would suggest you join the Islamic society there and stick with the good pious brothers there. It's all about who you hang around with because if you hang around with the wrong crowd then you will inevitabley do the wrong things and eventually do whatever haraam they are doing. So it is CRUCIAL that you find a good and pious set of friends because people who do the wrong things are NOT your real friends at all! Do NOT make the opposite sex your friend for that is when you will be diving headfirst into destruction. There is NO such thing as a friendship between a girl and a boy because male and female have been created to feel attraction with each other and chemical reactions will always happen and so called innocent friendships have usually always ended up in haraam relationships. It is haraam to socialise with a non mahram in the first place and the reason why is obvious so that things don't eventually happen between the male and female. If you want to keep your imaan high then keep away from the opposite sex.
Losing faith in Allah(swt) is harmful ONLY for us for He needs not that we have faith in Him but we need him! Without his help and guidance we are doomed forever and Brother trust me we do NOT want to experience a second of torture of the grave or Hell! Every prayer that we miss is GREAT amount of rewards lost and GREAT amounts of punishment possible for us unless we repent sincerely and keep steadfast with our prayers. Brother i promise you if you keep firm in your prayers then Allah will help you through University and every aspect of your life and you will have his help and ALWAYS have opportunities to ask of him. You will have such peace, tranquility and contentment in your heart that is not possible in any other way. But if you go away from Allah and leave your prayers then your life will become purposeless and you will be deviod of blessings, peace, contentment and happiness and you may fall into destruction.
Ma bayn al-kufr wal iman tark al-salah, - What is between belief and disbelief is leaving prayer.
So do we really want to fall into disbelief and risk a severe punishment that we cannot even imagine the severity of?
Treat this Ramadhan as a fresh start for you. Theres not much time left so really get into the habit of Salah and then you can ALWAYS stick with it inshallah. No matter how stressful life is once a person reads Salah and faces Allah then ALL his problems creap away because the person relies on Allah and Allah alone. So lets pray to Allah whole heartedly and trust, rely and have hope in him and this way we will NEVER be down or depressed in life because we would have our lord there for us.
