My daughter Rasha (the girl in my avatar pic) was born with a genetic kindey condition called unilateral hydronephrosis. They knew she had it when I was getting a standard ultrasound done in my 9th month of pregnancy. Recently in April of this year her kidney became blocked and was severely swollen. She under went major surgery where we traveled out of state and the doctor removed part of the ureter (the tube coming from the kidney and into the bladder) and they had to remove part of her kidney as well due to the severe swelling. She had been doing fine since the surgery (although her kidney function had dropped to 20%-30%.

But today she has started complaining of backpain again, and has not been eating well, but drinking alot (the same symptoms she presented with before we found out her kidney was blocked.) My daughter is only 3 and cannot yet understand what is wrong with her (we have to protect her from falls or rough housing with her brother to try and prevent kidney damage to her one healthy kidney). I fear that her kidney may be blocked again, and I will have to call the specialist this week if the back pain continues.
For those of you who are curious here is a web page telling you about my daughters illness:
